2024 was an exciting year for innovation at Hippo Technologies. As we reflect on our progress, we will highlight our achievements and milestones from the past year.
First, we want to extend a heartfelt “thank you” to our dedicated team members who work relentlessly to enhance healthcare accessibility worldwide. We also express our deep appreciation to our partners for their steadfast support of our mission and objectives. Their commitment has been crucial to our collective success over the past year.
Among our notable accomplishments in 2024 were:
The Carpenter Health Network’s virtual program covered six nursing homes with one Medical Director to provide immediate patient care and reduce patient transports. Hippo’s hands-free, voice-activated, wearable computing platform delivers a “through the eyes of the clinician” viewpoint, allowing Carpenter’s remote specialty physicians to collaborate in real time with colleagues on the ground with the patient to support medical teaching, rounding, proctoring, and specialty consultations.
In 2024, we added the “Rapid Connect” feature to our Hippo Virtual Care solution. With Rapid Connect, users can now seamlessly connect your tablet or smartphone to Hippo Virtual Care, which will enable the patient to interact face-to-face with remote clinicians. Our partnership with DigiLens Inc. will bring specialty clinical support to rural communities and homes via next-generation AR-enabled hands-free mobile computing. Wired stethoscope functionality is now available and we are currently in development with a digital Korean model wireless stethoscope that’s small, light and less expensive.
Through RAIsonance (FCVSentinel), AI-enabled cough recognition software, the technology can detect pulmonary disease and sicknesses such as flu, COVID, TB, bronchitis, asthma and more using a mobile phone. MayaMD uses AI precision tools combined with physician expertise by automating and streamlining the patient journey from discharge to home remote care. The CrewXR (Case Western Reserve University) collaboration will bring 3D imaging and medical procedure checklists to Hippo’s platform. Potential use cases for CrewXR are chemo port cleaning/maintenance, diabetes care/management tasks, OSCE (Objective Structured Clinical Examination), wound care, CPAP cleaning/maintenance, and drain maintenance.
We’re proud to partner with Gifty Kwakye, MD, MPH, Clinical Associate Professor at University of Michigan Medical School and a colorectal surgeon in both Michigan and Ghana, and Alton R. Johnson Jr., DPM, FACPM, FASPS, FFPM RCPS, CWSP, Clinical Assistant Professor of Orthopaedic Surgery-Foot and Ankle at University of Michigan Medical School and a podiatric surgeon. We also are working with the Perot/Jane Tech Lab through the Michigan Engineering School, Center for Entrepreneurship, where Hippo was chosen as one of six companies to run a two-year program for four interns who are at advanced progress in their Engineering degrees, most with programming ability. Onboarding of the interns begin this month.
The Hippo team attended several conferences across the country to learn from and connect with experts in the areas of elder care, medical devices, digital health, and overall state health: LeadingAge Annual Meeting in Nashville, Ochsner’s Inaugural Healthy State Summit in Baton Rouge, American Medical Device Summit in Illinois, and the DHIT North Carolina Health Innovation District Digital Health Summit in Charlotte, NC.
Hippo Technologies presented its Hippo Virtual Expert solution for the construction industry at the 2024 Institute of Concrete and Cement of El Salvador Summit (ISCYC Instituto Salvadoreño del Cemento y del Concreto) , focusing on the theme “Digital Revolution in Construction: Integrating Virtual Technology for a Sustainable Future.” Mildred Espinoza, the Director of Hippo Technologies Latin America, alongside Hippo’s lead Architect, Bill Ward, conducted the session. They discussed the significance of technology and innovation in construction inspections, emphasizing the benefits of real-time remote collaboration. This approach ensures the successful execution of construction projects, adhering to set timelines, budgets, and quality benchmarks. Additionally, they underscored how technology aids in transferring best practices from seasoned professionals to the emerging workforce in the construction sector. The discussion also emphasized the role of Hippo Virtual Expert’s technology in minimizing the carbon footprint, thereby promoting a more sustainable future and a healthier planet.
While attending Ochsner’s Inaugural Healthy State Summit in Baton Rouge, the Hippo team is working with constituents across the state to transform healthcare for Louisianans. We were featured in a local news segment about the conference, and we had the opportunity to speak with Dr. Ralph Abraham, the State of Louisiana’s first Surgeon General, a role created for him by the Governor to spearhead efforts to transform healthcare in the state, especially for underserved and rural communities.
Through our partnership with Alleanza, our Hippo reseller in the Middle East, we are expanding Hippo into Saudi Arabia with Soulmed. Soulmed is a comprehensive, all-in-one solution for healthcare professionals and institutions, integrating various services like scheduling, online/physical appointments, invoicing, and user profiles.
As we move forward into 2025, we remain committed to building on these successes, continuing to lead the way in next-generation virtual care and healthcare delivery innovation. Our focus will be on expanding our reach and enhancing the impact of our solutions globally.
